Matomo is an open-source web analytics application that helps businesses track and understand user behavior across websites and funnels. It is also a GDPR-compliant alternative to Google Analytics.
Connect Heyflow with Matomo to send event and user data from Heyflow directly to your Matomo account. This helps you to understand how users interact with your funnel and optimize your funnels based on real-user insights.

Setup
Step 1: Create and Set Up Matomo
Head to Matomo and either create an account or log in. Depending on whether you start from scratch or already have an account, there are two ways to get the Matomo URL and ID Site that we need to insert into the app later.
Here are the first steps, if you just created a new Matomo account:
In your Matomo interface, go to the tab Integrations.
Here you will find all necessary information to connect your heyflow to Matomo which are the Matomo URL and the ID Site.
Copy both items, head back to the previous screen and click on HIDE PAGE FOR AN HOUR at the bottom to access the dashboard.
You already set up your Matomo account previously and have access to your dashboard.
Simply copy the URL from your browser window to retain your Matomo URL.
To obtain the ID Site, click on the settings wheel in the upper right corner and choose Websites (sometimes called Measurables) and then Manage.
Step 2: Add Matomo ID to Heyflow
After copying your Matomo URL and ID Site, go to your heyflow next. Go to the "Connect" tab and head to "Tracking".
Scroll down to Matomo and paste the Matomo URL and the ID Site.
Click on Connect and don't forget to republish your flow afterwards.
Congratulations, your heyflow is now connected with Matomo!
Step 3: Finalize and Test
We highly recommend doing a test run to make sure events are properly tracked in Matomo. Whenever someone clicks through your heyflow, you'll be able to see them in the "visitor profile" which you can access via the "ID" symbol in your dashboard.
In the visitor profile, you'll find event and action data such as button clicks, input changes and submits.
Troubleshooting
I don't see any events in Matomo
Make sure you do not decline the Cookie Consent when testing the events in your heyflow and try disabling ad blocker and other extensions.
